If you are interested in gaining some experience in the year 7 and 8 development space, then this programme is for you. Session plans are supplied and are taken from the reccomended Netball NZ skills for this age group.

Coaching Development ​​​​​​​

Whether you are starting out in our futureFERNs space as a Star Helper, Secondary School coach filling a gap or even a club coach for satellite competition or premier. If you are needing some support, resources or are interested in some coaching development, we are here to help.


Community coaches inspire and connect Netball to over 140,000 Netball participants around the country each year. Netball Taranaki want to ensure coaches are being supported to deliver a quality experience of Netball while enjoying their own Netball journey.

Coaching is very rewarding and is a great way to contribute to our community, give back to the game, and to meet and connect with others involved in the sport we love.

Here at Netball Taranaki we offer quality learning opportunities and support that will help grow your knowledge and build your confidence. As a new coach, you’re encouraged to participate in introductory coaching workshops that help you develop as a coach, improve the safety of, and contribute to building a quality experience for our players.

1. Follow the sports tutor link for online learning with the above link.

2. Proceed to log-In OR register if you don't have an account (it is free)

3. At the top select 'Search Learning', then in the drop-down select the 'Netball NZ catalogue  

4. Find the 'Learning to Umpire 2025' course and enroll 

5. Complete the module and send a copy of your certificate to ndot@netballtaranaki.org.nz ​​​​​​​

“Our purpose is to develop coaches who connect and inspire players through Netball. The Coaching Framework aims to provide some flexibility, where Coaches can pick and choose how to start their learning journey in the Community and Foundation spaces without committing to completing a full qualification. We acknowledge that coaches may operate in multi levels in any one season.”

Coaching Workshops 

All workshops are shared through our website, and Facebook and sent through to your club/school contact we have on file. 

We accept workshop requests but this does require a minimum number of participants.

CCA Information 

The community Coach Award ( CCA) is a series of modules designed to support netball coaches in developing their skills and knowledge. Heres a brief overview of the CCA offerings:

CCA Level 1- Focuses on Player Centred Coaching providing the foundational knowledge of coaches to support their athletes effectively.

CCA Level 2 - Offers indepth knowledge and tactical coaching skills with a focus on building a player's understanding of the game. 

Online Learnding Portal - The Sport Tutor portal allows coaches to access online modules and resources at their convenience. 

Obersation and Support - COaches can receive observation and support from expeerienced coaches to enhance their coaching practice.
