Woolworths futureFERNS Star Helpers (Coaches)

Star Helpers are necessary for us to deliver an excellent program. A fantastic way for parents and guardians to get involved in their kids' sport and learn the fundamentals of netball and other sports is to become a Star Helper.

What is a "Star Helper" ? 

Coaches are refered to as Star Helpers in the futureFERNS program. Star Helpers are required to help assist Junior Coordinators with skills sessons (Year 1&2, Year 3&4) , organise their teams for games and during game play, assist and support their players on court. 

Years 1 & 2

  • 4 aside with rolling subs. If both teams agree more players can enter the court for 5, 6, 7 aside. 
  • Bibs are not compulsory.
  • Check your team in at the control room.
  • Warm up no more then 5mins.
  • Star helpers are actively involved during the skill sessions.
  • Star Helpers are on court to support and assist players.
  • Make sure each player is touching the ball.
  • Select your Player of the day and send to the control room.

Years 3&4

  • 5 aside. Attacks x2, Centre x1 and Defence x2.
  • Bibs are required.
  • Check in your team at the control room.
  • Warm up no more then 5 mins.
  • Star Helpers are actively involved during the skill sessions.
  • Umpire your own game.
  • All players must rotate and have an opportunity in all positions.
  • Players must have atleast half a game.
  • Select your Player of the day and send to the control room.

Years 5 & 6

  • 6 aside. Attacks x2, Centres x2 and Defence x2. One Centre will wait off the cout at each centre pass and only entering once the ball has been touched.
  • Bibs are required.
  • Check in your team at the control room.
  • Warm up team 5 - 10 mins.
  • No skill sessions.
  • You will need to umpire or sort an umpire.
  • All players must rotate and have an opportunity in all positions.
  • Players must have atleast half a game.
  • Select your Player of the Day and send to the control room.
