Beko spots for Aliena, Kate, Jenna

Netball Central Zone Performance Director Waimarama Taumaunu has named Taranaki shooter Aliena Wallis from the Naumai Spark Taranaki Premier and Greymouth Petroleum Taranaki Open Representative team in her 2018 Central Zone Beko Wider Squad.

The selection also includes Kate Wells and Jenna Barrett, who are former Taranaki players now based in Wellington.

The squad named this week is: Shooters:  Aliena Wallis (Taranaki); Diahn Te Pania Strickland, Emily Autagavaia, (Manawatu); Kelsey McPhee (Hawke’s Bay); Emma May Murray Fafita, Grace McLean, Jermaine Howard Vallance, Mona Lisa Groom, Saviour Tui (Wellington). Mid-court:  Layce Walker (Manawatu); Ainsleyan Puleiata, Colleen Faleafaga, Georgia White, Jenna Barrett, Kate Wells, Marcelle Parkes, Ruby Stirling, Salote Taufa, Sheridan Bignal (Wellington) Brooke Thompson Hetaraka, Keegan Sercombe (Hutt Valley). Defenders:   Antonia Heihei, Jessica Pease (Manawatu); Natasha Ryan (Hutt Valley); Kahurangi Sturmey (Whanganui); Api Taufa, Danielle Tafili, Emma Lees, Tori Watt, Victoria Miller (Wellington).

Training courses

Ivy Topping and Ann Rodgers will be running free coaching sessions through to early December in Waitara, Inglewood and Stratford. Modules will look at team culture, relationship building and attacking fundamentals.  The first session is in Inglewood on October 3. Don’t forget – the Netball Taranaki Annual Awards are on October 14, the Spring League starts on October 16 and nominations for Life, Service and Satellite Volunteer Award Nominations close October 31.

TRI code programme
