Former Silver Fern Leana De Bruin focussed on defence when she covered individual aspects for individuals and teams during a special tuition session at Stratford on Sunday. (September 24)
De Bruin (pictured in red with players and coaches) emphasised how creating movement forced opponents to make mistakes.
The session attracted 13 coaches and eight players – more than a similar session in 2016, but organisers say they would have liked to have seen more people take advantage of the opportunity.
Following that session, a total of 16 Pinnacle Academy players also completed a fitness test and went through some skill drills in preparation for a Zone Talent Day to be held on October 14.
It is anticipated on that day Netball Central Zone will select a squad of players who are considered for a New Zealand Secondary School trial in 2018.
Four coaches also helped out with the second session - Jenni Brewer, Hannah Kelly, Leanne Matuku and Vanessa Mason.
