Taranaki is one of the country’s largest and strongest netball playing provinces.
Unlike most other centres in which play is focused at one set of courts, in Taranaki we have 6 satellites: Hawera, Opunake, Stratford, Inglewood, Waitara and New Plymouth. In 2013 our Premier teams will play in stadium at TSB Hub in Hawera, TET Multi Sports Centre in Stratford, New Plymouth YMCA and TSB Stadium in New Plymouth.
First established in 1947 as The Taranaki Basketball Association Incorporated, Netball Taranaki is now a Regional Sports Organisation in the Sport NZ framework. We are part of the new Netball Central Zone, one of 5 zones established by Netball New Zealand in October 2012 to replace the more complex 12 region structure.
We are located at Sport House in offices leased from Sport Taranaki. (Sport Taranaki is a charitable trust, established in 1989 to the promote sport and physical recreation in Taranaki. It is one of 17 Regional Sports Trusts located throughout New Zealand.)
Netball Taranaki is funded with generous support from NZCT and TSB Community Trust. This support along with fee income generated through competitions, tournaments, events and sponsorship enables Netball Taranaki to grow both the delivery and development of netball in this region.
